He is preceded in death by wife of 67 years, Mary Bowen Cartwright; sons, Buford Donell and Charlie and grandson, Jerome McCullough, III. He is survived by eight devoted children, daughters, Jean O. McCullough; his caretaker, Margaret Brown, Detroit, MI and Debbie Cartwright; sons, Robert Cartwright, Carl Cartwright, Detroit, MI, Frederick (Sandra) Cartwright, Dallas, TX, William and John Michael (Lena) Cartwright, both of Nashville; 39 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Louise Cartwright, Cleveland, OH and Martha Cartwright, Franklin, TN; son-in-law, Jerome McCullough, Jr. Mr. Cartwright will lie in state Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at the Atena Chapel, 1107 Buchanan Street from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at Fourteenth Avenue Baptist Church, 2501 Buchanan St. from 11 - 12 Noon, funeral to follow.
