The Rev. Paul A. Behn
Services will be held Thursday for the Rev Paul A. Behn, 91, former pastor of Fairview Evangelical Lutheran Church, 137 N. 66th St. Behn died Sunday of natural causes at Watertown Memorial Hospital.

Behn began his career as a missionary to the Apache Indians in Arizona, where he served from 1925 to 1940. From 1940 to 1967, he was a pastor at Fairview Lutheran, and from 1967 to 1974, he served as a counselor in the Chinese Evangelical Church in Hong Kong.

He was also pastor of ross of Christ Lutheran Church in Kingman, Ariz., from 1975 to 1980. He lived at the Arizona Lutheran Retirement Home in Phoenix until June 1991, the with a daughter in Watertown until his death.

"He really was a history book of knowledge about the Indians and life itself," said another daughter, Ruth Kobs, of Cambridge.

Besides Kobs, Behn is survived by three daughters, Laurel Schuster, of Lombard, Ill.; Lois Thomas, of Augusta, Ga.; and Mariam Behnke of Watertown.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 10121 W. North Ave., Wauwatosa. Funeral services will be Thursday at Fairview Evangelical Church.
