He was a veteran of the United States Army; retired from the Evansville Police Department after 20 years of service and also retired from 911 Special Investigations in Indianapolis where he was a fraud investigator. Larry also worked as a corporate security officer for the American International Group in Lake Mary, NY.
Surviving Larry are three daughters, Laura (Tony) Douglas of Corona, CA, Patty (Rob) Montgomery of Evansville and Ellen (David) Fleig of Carmel, IN; one brother, Lewis Eugene "Gene" Alsop of Elk Grove, CA; four grandchildren, Samantha and Cameron Montgomery and Katie and Jackson Fleig; nephew, Major Steven Alsop of the United States Marine Corps as well as several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Donna C. (Winiger) Alsop and a brother, Paul Alsop.
Funeral services for Larry will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 10, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, Rev. Eugene Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday and from 10:30 AM until service time on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church Vanderburgh County.
