Grace Elizabeth Sullivan, age 87, of Cape Girardeau was baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 20, 1932, in Lockhart, Texas, the youngest of three children of Edwin and Lena Wiegand Ahlhardt. She and Aloysius Francis Sullivan were married April 11, 1952 in Austin, Texas. He passed away Feb. 13, 2007.

Grace was a graduate of Lockhart High School and attended the University of Texas, Austin. She was a devoted member of Old St. Vincent Parish, where she served as a long-time volunteer.

Loving survivors include three children, Kathleen Anne (William) Watson of Cape Girardeau; Michael David (Jane) Sullivan of House Springs, Missouri, and Elizabeth Marie Sullivan of Cape Girardeau. She was the loving grandmother of Sara Beattie nee Watson, Jessica (Chris) Barinque nee Watson, Mark Patrick Sullivan, Zoe Elizabeth Sullivan, Nathan Aloysius Todt and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her loving husband of 54 years, she was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Marion Sullivan.

The visitation will be from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2020 at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Old St. Vincent Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

The family suggests that contributions be made to Old St. Vincent Catholic Church.
