BERLIN -- Jimmy Lee Spence, 52, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, at his Harrison Road home in Berlin. Born in Newark, he was a son of the late Herbert and Ethel Spence. He was a 1973 graduate of Snow Hill High School. He was the assistant superintendent of groundskeeping and Irrigation for the Ocean City Golf and Yacht Club in Assateague. He was also formerly employed with Perdue Farms Inc., Mountaire Farms and Showell Poultry. His survivors include two brothers and two sisters, Johnny (Wanda) Spence and Mildred Spence, all of Salisbury, Hilton (Regena) Spence of Frankford and Janette White of Millsboro; an adopted brother and sister, Wayne and Sheila Young of Berlin; special friends, James and Ozella Williams of Berlin; a companion, Louise (Sis) Funk of Berlin; Jonathon Stevenson, whom he reared as a son; and a host of nieces and nephews. Five brothers and two sisters, Edward, Charles, Hurley, Raymond and Linwood Spence, Shirley Johnson and Virginia Spence, preceded him in death. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church in Berlin, where friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to service.
