Daniel J. Dumas, 73, Oconto Falls, died peacefully Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay surrounded by family, following complications from being exposed to Agent Orange during his military service. He was born September 4, 1946 on the family farm in rural Lena to Daniel and Phyllis (Smith) Dumas. Dan grew up in rural Lena and attended Lena High School.

On March 30, 1968 he married Patricia LaCombe in Oconto. Not long after their marriage, Dan enlisted in the US Army and served in Vietnam, Germany and Georgia for nine years. Because of health issues, he had to take an early retirement. Dan then worked as a self-employed truck driver until 2006. He also worked as a Sherriff’s Deputy for special occasions in Oconto County for many years. He was a proud member of Oconto County DAV Chapter #45. Dan will be fondly remembered as someone who would help anyone he could and for making numerous things with his skilled hands.

Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Patsy Dumas; their four daughters, Ann (fiancé John Thompson) Dumas, Becky (John McAllister) Dumas, Evie (Jr.) Karcz and Jamie Dumas; five grandchildren, John Thompson Jr., Dylan (Lea) and Skylar Konitzer, Mercedes (fiancé Adam Drew) Dumas and Aaron Karcz; five great grandchildren, AJ who he loved caring for daily, Ailiyah, Jacob and Finnley Konitzer, Jax Thompson; three sisters, Alice (David) Blood, Barbara Bubolz and Patricia (Ron) Temple; one brother-in-law, Bill (Betty) LaCombe; many nieces and nephews; his special cat Buddie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Angela Nicholson, one brother Phillip Dumas, two nieces Patti Jasper and Melissa Temple, one nephew Gary Bubolz, his in-laws Lloyd and Evelyn LaCombe and three brothers-in-law, Lloyd Jr., Ronald and James LaCombe.

Visitation will take place after 2pm Monday, January 6, 2020 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of service. Funeral services will be held 6pm Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Fr. Joel Sember officiating. Cremation will follow with burial to take place in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Stiles.
