County Matters - The death of N.D. Bronson, Esq., for many years the capable Supervisor of Western, is announced. Clinton Courier, Thursday, Dec. 7, 1871

It is with deep regret that we make the announcement that Nathaniel D. Bronson, of North Western in this County is dead.
The event is not unexpected, for Mr. Bronson has been ill for several months with a painful affection of the kidneys; but it is none the less sad to record the death of so valued and exemplary a citizen.
Mr. Bronson was born in the neighboring town of Marcy in 1807, and had accordingly reached his 66th year. He was the eldest of nine children, the youngest of whom is Mr. Isaac Bronson, of Utica. The deceased has resided many years in North Western, and for seven or eight years has been the representative of the town of Western in the Board of Supervisors. As Supervisor he was greatly respected by his
associates. He gave faithful attention to his duties and voted and acted with a scrupulous regard to the interests of the people of his town and of the county. His perfect candor, his fairness and his desire to do his duty with exact fidelity were the chief characteristics of his long career in our county legislative body. He was re-elected last spring, but felt compelled to resign about a month ago, when Joseph French was duly appointed to fill his place.
Mr. Bronson died yesterday. While a whole community will mourn his loss, it is his wife and daughter, who survive him, who will feel the blow most keenly and cherish his unspotted memory most tenderly. They have a grateful consolation in
being able to nourish recollections so pleasant and honorable as are all those associated with his name and life.
The funeral will take place at one o'clock to-morrow, and the Masons of Rome will consign his remains to the earth with proper ceremonials. Utica Daily Observer, Saturday Evening, Dec. 2, 1871
