Dean Bird, age 81, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 4:05 a.m. in DuQuoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, DuQuoin, IL.
Dean was born on June 5, 1938 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Hershel and Gladys (Heine) Bird. In October 1957, he married Sharon Corlett in Wilmington, IL and she survives. He had worked as a welder at Caterpillar Inc. for 37 years. Dean was a member of the football chain gang in Wilmington, IL, enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sharon Bird of Pinckneyville, IL; a son, B. (C) Bird of Pinckneyville, IL; a daughter, Dawn of Manteno, IL; six brothers, A (E) Bird of Pinckneyville, IL, N. Bird of Tamaroa, IL, P (M) Bird of Manhattan, IL, O (M) Bird of Pinckneyville, IL, S (K) Bird of Pinckneyville, IL and R (J) Bird of DuQuoin, IL; two sisters, Marie of Pinckneyville, IL and Arthie (Frank) of Tamaroa, IL; a sister-in-law, Ann Marie of Pinckneyville, IL; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, John Bird and a brother and sister in childhood.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
