Mrs. Alberta Carter Gills, of 541 Union Street, Bluefield, died Tuesday in a Bluefield Hospital following a short illness. Born in Martinsville, Va., she was the daugther of the late Albert and Susie Green Edmunds Carter.
She was credit manager for Cole Motor Company in Bluefield. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, Circle No. 1 of the church and the McGuffey Book Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Roy Gills in October. 1971.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Dottie) Speroni of Miami Shores, Fla., two grandchildren, Robert and David Speroni; one sister, Mrs. William K. (Francis) Linsey of Bluefield.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. from Mercer Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Roquie officiating. Burial will follow in Monte Vista Park Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the American Lung Association. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. today.
