Elder Will Sledge, 86, of Athens, AL lived a full life from January 12, 1933 to December 28, 2019. Will was one of 11 children to the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Ada Bell Sledge. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister.

Elder Sledge accepted Jesus Christ on August 18, 1976 and remained a faithful member of Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America in Athens, AL until his death where his seat cushion rests in the front corner pew. He was also a member of the Athelstine Lodge #71.

Elder Sledge was married for 48 years to the late Mildred (Turner) Sledge. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His life sang a beautiful song of faith, excellence in his work, and a love for people.

Elder Sledge was also preceded in death by five sons: William Henry Sledge, Ronnie Sledge, Mose Turner, Carl Burrell, and Michael Burrell.

Elder Sledge leaves his memory to four sons: Will Roger Sledge, Donnie Sledge, Perry (Barbara) Burrell, and Kenneth (Kathy) Sledge; one daughter, Wilma Sledge; one sister, Fannie Mae Johnson; two sisters in law: Fannie Mae Griffin and Mable Sledge; 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one three-times-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that over his lifetime became like family.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Round Island Creek Mission Center (13829 Lucas Ferry Road Athens, AL 35611) with Reverend Robert L. Rice officiating. Interment will in Thatch-Mann Cemetery. Mr. Sledge will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

Public viewing will held from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2020 and 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Royal Funeral Home- Mason Chapel in Athens, AL directing.
