Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Dana Baxter, age 93, of Lawton, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2019 at her residence at The Chateau Assisted Living in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was born January 26, 1926 in Sterling, Oklahoma to Earl A. and Nola F. (Foster) Baxter. She was one month shy of being 94.
Dana lived a full and happy life. She was president of the Kathryn Harper Club in Lawton for a while and was active in charities and social events over the years. She was a successful real estate broker at the Jack Willis Realty Company in Lawton and worked for a time at a bank in downtown Dallas, Texas. She enjoyed fishing, playing tennis, bowling, and water skiing, and earned a reputation for skiing with her skis crossed in an “X” in front of her. She was a loving mother and an excellent cook and frequently baked for charitable events. She went through some hard times during her lifetime – both as a child growing up in poverty and as an adult facing the trials of life; but throughout even the worst of times, she kept a positive attitude and lived according to the Christian ideals she was brought up with. Please cherish her memory as she was in life – happy, vivacious, and loving.
Dana is survived by her son, Keith Willis, of Highland Village, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Willis, and her second husband, Bob Baxter, as well as her brothers and sisters, Geneva Fewell, Pat Hathaway, Mildred Holloway, Earl Baxter, and Marvin Baxter.
