"Death of A.J. Arana"
We regret to record the death of Adolph J. Arana, which occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Ward, on Friday evening, December 22, from epilepsy, followed by a general collapse of the vital forces.
Deceased was a native of Sonora, Tuolamine county, California, and was forty-five years of age. He was numbered among the old-timers of Globe, having come here on May 5, 1879, and for eighteen years thereafter he was a valued employee of the Arizona Silver Belt, and the proprietor of this paper, together with others of his friends, sincerely regrets his death. He was a first class compositor, an intelligent man and a generous and faithful friend.
Mr. and Mrs. George Ward were especially kind to the deceased, having befriended him in many ways, and during his last illness took care of him and gave him every attention.
The funeral took place last Sunday afternoon from the Catholic church, and was attended by many of the old friends and acquaintances of the deceased. Rev. J.O. Barrette officiated at the church and grave, and every service for the dead was performed. A.J. Arana will be kindly remembered, and by none more than by the editor of the Belt.
The mother of the deceased, Mr. Inez Medosa, resides at Winnemucca, Nevada, with her three daughters, one of whom, Miss Lucy R. Mendosa, is kindly remembered here, having visited Globe several years ago.
