Our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Saturday, September 12, 1998 in the home she loved.
Born November 14, 1916, she was the fifth of six children of Samuel Cyress Howard and Melissa Hatch. She enjoyed growing up in Woods Cross with her brother and sisters and was valedictorian of South Davis Junior High. She later graduated from Davis High School.
Married Howard John Gerber in the Salt Lake Temple May 16, 1935. For her, her two boys and two girls made a perfect family; Kent (Danie), Gordon, Karol (Richard), Betty.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She especially enjoyed serving on the Stake Primary and Relief Society Boards. Her special interests were quilting, crossword puzzles and her beautiful roses. Dear to her was genealogy research. Through this effort a bond was formed with family members living in England. She and Howard made several trips to visit these English relatives. She enjoyed her long association with special friends in a study group.
Survived by her children; sisters, Afton Hardy and Louise Hogan; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. These are all people whom she loved dearly and in turn we loved her. Preceded in death by her husband, Howard John; brother, Ross Howard; sisters, Syliva Riley and Vera Williams.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, 12 noon at the Bountiful 9th Ward, 585 East Center, Bountiful. Friends and family may call Monday, September 14, 1998 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, and on Tuesday from 10:45 to 11:45 prior to services at the Church.
