Groppi, Louis J. Peacefully passed away at home with his family Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at the age of 90 years. Loving husband of Vilma (nee Comina) for 63 years. Devoted father of George (Mary), Danny (Rebecca), Dickie (Kathy) Groppi and Darlene (Bob) Bartelak. Dear grandpa of Lisa, Christopher, Laura, Tony, Nikki, Joey, Kristina, Lisa, Annie, Marco, Eric, Dan, Jeff and Katie. Brother of Mary (the late John) Bontempo, Frances (the late Ted) Bolan, Gloria (Leonard) Danowski and Thomas (the late Violet) Groppi. Preceded in death by parents Giocondo and Giorgina Groppi, brothers Clemente, John, Frank, Mario and Rev. James Groppi, and sisters Eleanore Schriehart and Theresa (the late Clarence) Prausa. Brother-in-law of Angie Comina, Ray Schriehart and Margaret Rozga. Companion of his beloved pest, "Josie". Also survived by 8 great - grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation Monday from 4:00 - 7:00PM at IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, 1023 E. Russell Ave., and Tuesday from 9:00 - 10:15AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30AM. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Former co-owner of Groppi Food Market. Member of Travis AMVETS Post #14 and Giuseppe Garibaldi Society. Louis served in the Pacific in WWII in the Army. A special thank you to Sandy and Jelena for their loving home care.
