Mary, was the oldest child of Deacon John Blair, and his wife Elizabeth Halbert Blair. She was born in Murrayfield, renamed Chester in 1783, Hampden County, MA. She moved with her family to Westmoreland, about 1787, where her father and her family, were the 4th settlers to arrive. Her parents and siblings later removed to what is now Middlesex, Yates County, by ox cart, in 1794, founding a new town, forming the first school (now Marcus Whitman Central School District), building the first church, and much more. Mary remained in Oneida County with her husband.
