BLOOMINGTON — Jerry A. Amundson, 79, of Bloomington, passed away Dec. 7, 2019, in Bloomington.
Jerry was born in Bloomington the son of Harold and Loretta Amundson (deceased).
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Maston and a granddaughter, Taylor Maston.
Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Judy Robinson (deceased) of Bloomington. He served as a U.S. Marine for four years.
Jerry was the first person hired without a college degree at Bache and Co., N.Y. Stock Exchange. After Bache, he moved to Canton, Ohio and was employed by James Financial Corp. He served as executive vice president handling nationwide corporate funding. He was also a real estate investor in Bloomington. Jerry served on the board of directors for Security Savings and Loan of Columbus, Ohio, joining New York Yankees captain, Thurman Munson (deceased) and head coach, Rick Forzano (deceased) of the Detroit Lions. During his 10 years in mortgage banking, he organized and structured the funding of a multi-million dollar Cochiti Lake project on the Rio Grande River in New Mexico. This was the largest real estate project in the state of New Mexico at the time. One of Jerry's “unofficial duties” with the Mortgage Bank was investor relations and “entertainment” at which he excelled. Meeting with executives and board members of banks and savings and loan companies, he made many friends. Jerry always left them with fun and laughter.
If he were to give his final words of wisdom today, they would be “Don't eat yellow snow!”
