He was born in Salthill, Berkshire and died at 24 Westbourne Gardens, Folkestone. He was a retired army officer, having been a Captain in the 22nd Regiment of Foot, Cheshire Regiment. He was christened on the 19 Sep 1844 in Farnham-Royal, Buckinghamshire. Father: Archibald William Blane, Mother: Mary Magdalene. He married Frances on 14 February 1870 at Rathfarnham, County Dublin, Ireland.
In 1891 he was a retired Lieutenant Colonel; they were living at Lindfield Lodge, Bouverie Road West, Folkestone, with a son, Archibald Rodney, 12. They had three servants and two visitors, , Rachel Margaret Down, 19 and Charles Rodney Blane 11.
In 1901 they were living at 24 Westbourne Gardens, with three servants.
