Marie Blankenship
July 4, 1921 - February 3, 2002
Marie "Molly" Blankenship, 80, of Benton, Arkansas, died Sunday, February 3, 2002, at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton.
Mrs. Blankenship was born July 4, 1921, at Redfield, Arkansas, the daughter of the late William T. and Jessie Wright Thrower. She was reared and received her education in Redfield and Pine Bluff, graduated from Redfield High School. Upon graduation, she joined the U. S. Navy and served during the World War II era. She married Lawrence Wade Blankenship in 1944, and they moved to Pine Bluff in 1945. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1980. She lived here until she moved to Benton in 1996, to be with her son. Mrs. Blankenship worked as a cook for five (5) years at the Boy's Training School in Pine Bluff before her retirement. Marie was a member of the New Beginnings Church in Pine Bluff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Marie is survived by two sons, David (Trixie) Blankenship of Benton, AR and James "Chuck" (Susan) Blankenship of New Caney, TX; three brothers, David (Opal) Thrower, Daniel Thrower both of Pine Bluff and Woodrow (Ruth) Thrower of Waco, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Josie Croft of White Hall, and Mrs. Jean Bond of Pine Bluff; and two grandchildren, Dabney and Wade.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, 807 Cherry, Pine Bluff. Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM at Ralph Robinson and Son.
Burial will be at Memorial Park in Pine Bluff.
The Family will receive guests at the residence of John and Mary Jo Crow, 1602 Oak wood Circle, White Hall, following the graveside service.
