Mom got the best Christmas present when she met her Savior, Jesus Christ, at 5 a.m. on Christmas morning. One of twelve children, Mona was born on June 16, 1934, to the late Edgar and Florence (Brown) Harvey in Pendleton. On September 2, 1952, she married the love of her life, Ernest E. Walker. They were together for 39 years until Dad passed away on August 23, 1991.

Mom and Dad had four children, Andy Walker, Charlotte Walker, Eric (Teresa) Walker, and Wanda Walker; 9 grandchildren, Joseph (Nathaniel) Walker, Travis (Erin) Walker, Andrew (Leah) Walker, David Walker, Kaycy (Chris) Jackson, Karry (Dustin) Babb, Cachet (Andrew) Slaughter, Sasha (Shawn) Guest, and Jared (Breanna) Walker; 22 great-grandchildren in all, Luke, Drew, Zoe, Wyatt, Marcus, Janelle, Mike, Taylor, Karygan, Korbin, Kason, Kendalyn, Marissa, Alissa, Aaliyah, Lily, Madilyn, Hadlee, Traxton, and 3 of whom are special great-granddaughters, Jennivyn, Aaliyah, and Kenzie; one honorary grandchild, Faith; 3 great-great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; and sister, June DeShon.

Mom loved to cook, and she made beautiful hooked rugs. She loved doing her word search books. Most of all, she loved the Lord and her family. She was able to spend her final years with her two daughters. We feel very blessed to have had her at home. We love you, Mommy!

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Mona’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Brent Miller officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
