AARON'S OBITUARY

Aaron Jay Clovis passed away on December 26, 2019 peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones. He has gone to prepare a garden in the anticipation of being reunited one day with Joy and his loved ones as promised by our Savior in John 14:3, And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Aaron was born on October 15, 1937 in El Reno, Ok to Walter and Irene Werner Clovis. He was a graduate of Omega High School in Omega, OK where he excelled in sports. He attended Oklahoma State University on a basketball scholarship. He played for the legendary coach Hank Iba. He left OSU to marry his one and only love, Joy Lorene Stewart. They moved to Oklahoma City where he joined the Oklahoma City Police Department. They had two children Rickey and Vicki. They moved to Yukon in 1969.

During his tenure at the OKCPD he was the youngest officer to be promoted to detective. During his years as a homicide detective he never had an unsolved case. In his last few years he returned to patrol as a sergeant. He retired from OKCPS in 1975 after 21 years of service.

He then went on to have a fence company and work in the oil field business. He and Joy also began their passion of raising racehorses for the next 20 years. He loved training his beloved quarter horses and then thoroughbreds with Joy and their partners Ronnie and Mary Sue Stewart and Fenton and Linda Ramey. Aaron was also an avid sports fan. He loved watching sports. He coached Rick in little league sports and loved watching the Yukon Millerettes basketball team. In his later years it included watching David coaching football and his grand-nephews, Tyler and Trevor play in college. He loved his Oklahoma State Cowboys, OKC Thunder, and after his move to Houston, the World Champ Astros and the Rockets were growing on him.

Aaron loved the Lord and served him at Christ’s Church in Yukon where he served as a deacon for many years. He also enjoyed being involved in the Auxiliary while living at Spanish Cove. Aaron was loved by all who knew him. They knew his word was true. He was an example of honesty, integrity, faith, devotion and love.

Aaron is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joy; sons, Rick Clovis and wife Barbie; daughter, Vicki Snokhous and husband David; four grandchildren that he adored, Cody Clovis and his wife Kylah, Christina Clovis, and Raegan and Reilee Snokhous; brother-in-law, Roy Privott; sister-in-law, Mary Sue Stewart; brother-in-law, Richard McKnight, and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
