Hartford City - Richard A. Rogers, 77, passed away Tuesday morning, December 24, 2019 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 14, 1942 in Blackford County, one of three children of Clifford J. and Dorothy M. (Hurst) Rogers, graduating from Montpelier High School in 1960. He then served his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps from 1960 - 1964.

On December 3, 1966 he married MaryEllen Marino in Chicago. They moved to Hartford City in 1974 where they would raise their three daughters.

Richard retired from Firestone in Marion with over thirty years of service. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Gas City and a member of the Tripoli Division of the Marion Marine Corps League.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy; three daughters: Kathleen (Tony) Stanley, Diana (Jeffrey) Dragoo and Patricia (Patrick) Williams; 12 Grandchildren: Madison, Anthony, Megan, Evan and Max Stanley; Courtney and Casey Dragoo; Anna, Mary, Rose, Lucy and Lily Williams. One brother, Gary (Carmen) Rogers of Montpelier. One sister Mary J. (Virgil) Sutton of Hartford City, a sister-in-law, JoAnn Snead of River Grove, IL as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, on August 12th of this year and his father on April 1, 1997.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Christopher Roberts on Monday, December 30, 2019, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 325 E. N. "A" St., Gas City at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie, with Military Graveside Rites by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 29, 2019 from 3-7 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City. The Christian Wake service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Friends may also call on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
