Mr. Anderson died Tuesday at the Butte Healthcare Center.

Richard Anderson was born near Fairfax, SD in the Baker community, February 6, 1912, the son of David and Anna (Armfield) Anderson. He was baptized as an infant in the Baker Lutheran Church. In 1919, he moved with his parents to a farm near Gross, NE. He was confirmed in 1926 at the Swedish Mission Covenant Church north of Bristow. Richard attended 10 grades at Gross School, was a graduate of Bristow High School in 1930, worked on the farm with his father, and spent some time working in Omaha before returning to the farm.

March 29, 1941, he was united in marriage to Aileen Wenke. They farmed in the Bristow and Gross area, and in 1946 purchased a farm northwest of Gross. Three daughters and a son blessed their home. They purchased a home in Spencer and moved there in 1975. Richard continued to help some on the farm, and spent many hours woodworking in his shop. His picnic tables, porch swings, gliders, etc., found their way to many homes, along with many things for the children and grandchildren. He was a favorite with them and enjoyed his family. He also spent many days in the trees along the Ponca creek cutting firewood. He would take his lunch and coffee in the morning and return in the afternoon with a big pickup load to sell or burn. As long as he had good health he was never idle. He had a great sense of humor and loved a good laugh right up until the end of his life. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a loyal member of Rosedale Evangelical Covenant Church, and served on the board through the years. Richard moved to the Butte Healthcare Center in 1998. He passed away August 21, 2007.

He leaves to mourn his daughter Carol and husband Lowell Fisher, son Bruce and wife Nancy, daughter Janice and husband Carl Ruda; nine grandchildren, Sarah and husband Tim Price, Mary and husband Chip Tollie, Steven and wife Dalene Fisher, Ruth Fisher, Trina and husband Rob Shaw, Rick and wife Rebekah Anderson, Marc and wife Becky Anderson, Jon and wife Niki Ruda, and Troy and wife Janisha Ruda; 19 great grandchildren; sister in law, Frances Mae Anderson; brother in law, Ralph Vatalaro; sisters, Mardell Senter and Audrey Marion and her husband Bill; nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Aileen; daughter, Beverly; parents, David and Anna; brother, Norman Anderson; sisters and brother in laws, Linnea Vatalaro, Norma and husband George Young, Pauline and husband Bob Morris, Charles Senter, and Vernon Wenke.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
