Angelo P. Allegretto; Sr., age 90, of Ansonia entered into eternal rest on December 28, 2017, at Grimes Rehab Center in New Haven. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Boylan Allegretto.
Angelo was born in Shelton on January 13, 1927, son of the late Dominic and Antoinette (Porpeuti) Allegretto. He was a communicant of the Church of the Assumption, and served as a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a supernumerary Police Officer for the City of Ansonia, a construction manager for Oakdale Development Construction Company, and an employee of the Griffin Hospital Security Department upon his retirement. Angelo enjoyed collecting memorabilia, purchasing sports cars, and spending time in Florida. He is survived by a daughter Mary Perez (Mario) of Bridgeport, sons Angelo Allegretto (Darlene) of Seymour, Michael Allegretto of Ansonia, Stephen Allegretto (Diana) of Ansonia, and Joseph Allegretto of Florida; a sister Jennie DeGennaro of Derby; brothers Joseph Uliano of Waterbury and Patrick Uliano (Joan) of Seymour; grandchildren Mario, Philip and Stephanie Perez, Michael Allegretto, Christine Musante, Stephen and Jenna Allegretto; and five great grandchildren.Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, from 4-7p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 91 N. Cliff Street in Ansonia. On Wednesday, his funeral will leave at 9:45a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. at the Church of Assumption in Ansonia. Burial in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery will be held at a later time. Donations in Angelo's memory may be made to the Church of the Assumption in care of the funeral home.
