Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Chrisopher. Burial will be in Mulkeytown Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m.
Mr Essex was born in Anna, on Feb 3, 1922, the son of Homer and Burless (Bacon) Essex. He was married to Ruby (Carter) Essex on Jan 23 1946, She survives.
He was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church, and of the Christopher Masonic Lodge.
He was retired from the Corps of Engineers, Rend Lake and was an Air Force Veteran of WWII.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters. Lois Moore of Tipton, IND, Marge Kirkpatrick of Salem, and Mary Fouts of Alma. Two sons, Kenneth and Duane Essex of West Frankfort. Six Grandsons, six Granddaughters, and two sisters, Iona Biggs of East Peoria, and Martha Dennison of Christopher.
Mr Essex was also preceeded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Essex, and Mary Mae Price
