Mrs. George Shaw, wife of George E. Shaw of Olean, Mo., passed away Wednesday, May 9, at 4 p.m. Mrs. Shaw suffered a broken hip seven years ago and had been an invalid ever since, bearing her suffering with patience, always greeting her friends with a smile. Her death was momentarily expected for some hours, as she had been seriously ill since Saturday.
Mrs. Shaw, whose maiden name was Sarah C. Campbell, was born Nov. 19, 1854 and grew to womanhood near Russellville, Mo., and was married to George E. Shaw March 9, 1887. To this union were born two children, Mrs. Victoria Crum and James E. Shaw, both residing near Olean. She united with Cole Spring Baptist Church Feb 12, 1883 to which faith she remained true through life.
Funeral services were conducted at Olean Baptist Church Friday morning at 10 o'clock by the Rev. B.F. Dinwiddie, and was attended by a large audience of friends and relatives.
In her passing the husband has lost a devoted wife, the children a loving mother, the community a kind neighbor. Besides the husband and children, she is survived by two grandsons, one brother and a host of other relatives.
Interment was made at Enloe Cemetery with Steffens Funeral home in Charge.
