James E. Anderson Jr., 65, passed away peacefully at home on April 10, 2017 surrounded by his family after a two-year battle with cancer. James was a fourth generation Poulsbo native, born of Norwegian homesteaders (from Loland and Heidal Norway) that had originally owned hundreds of acres off of Stottlemeyer Road. Jim’s family also had family that immigrated from Northern Ireland. Its that combination of family roots, growing up with loving and amazing parents, his siblings that were his best friends that made him the strong, proud and witty Irish Norwegian that everyone knew and loved.

He graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1969, where he played football and helped his family’s auto wrecking business (Jim’s Auto Wrecking and Towing). He served the community in his youth as a volunteer Poulsbo firefighter, was a member of the JC’s and throughout his life and was always there to help anyone who was in need. Being a young, single dad with two kids, just out of high school, Jim went to work early on his career with the United States Postal Service, and after 41 years, he earned his early retirement in 2012 at the age of 60.

He enjoyed many things in life, among them were: tinkering in the garage, watching football and movies, trying his luck with the lotto, spending time with his family, and hanging out at “The Office” (The Filling Station) with his friends.

Jim will forever will be known for his big heart and his generosity - a lion with a heart of gold.

Jim leaves behind his son, Bob Anderson and daughterin-law, Sam Miller; grandchildren, Stephanie Anderson, Zackary Anderson, Danton Bennett; great-granddaughter, Hayley Mae Anderson; daughter, Corrine Nortmann and son-in-law, Mark Nortmann; granddaughters, Alyshia Nortmann and Kenzie Nortmann; sister, Arlene Endresen; brother, Michael Anderson and sister-in-law, Maureen McGarrity; nephew, Justin Anderson and niece-in-law, Allison Anderson; great-nephew, Tyler; great-niece, Ember Anderson. Jim will also leave behind extended family members and long-time friends. We will all miss him greatly.

Preceding him in death were parents, James and Maryann Anderson Sr.; brother, Gary Anderson; and brother-in-law, Rick Endresen.

The family is having an Irish-style celebration of life gathering to celebrate the amazing man we knew, who left us all too soon on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 1 - 3 p.m., at The Filling Station in Kingston, Washington. All who loved him are welcome (light snacks will be served with a no host bar). Photo board will be on display, for sharing memories.
