Erik Brandon Birkhimer, age 40, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Monday December 23, 2019. Erik was born April 3, 1979.

Erik is survived by his wife, Alissa Birkhimer; father, Larry (Frances) Birkhimer; sister, Lara (Chuck) Brewer; stepbrothers, James E (Denise) Dailey and Greg (Stacy) Bryant; grandparents, Ruth Gartman and Inez Curtis; and aunt's, uncle's, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Anita Birkhimer; Laddie and Lois Birkhimer, Darrol Mickle, Henry Curtis; and several beloved aunts and cousins.

Erik attended UAB and was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He was a graduate of the United States Navy. The most important thing in Erik's life was his family. He loved family gatherings and making memories. He had a heart for those in need and would help them in any way that he could.

He developed his personal relationship with his Savior Jesus Christ. He loved reading the bible and being challenged by the word of God.

Erik was a brother, a husband, a son, a nephew, and a friend to many. He will be missed immensely. He is safe at home now.

The last verse Erik marked in his bible was: Romans 15:13 "I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit." This verse holds a special place in our hearts, its like a gift of Hope that he left with us.

Brother Steven Winston will be officiating the service. Brother Greg Bailey will be officiating at the graveside.

Pallbearers will be: Wesley Key, Timothy Hines, Dalton Campbell, Dillion Campbell, Brian Curtis, and Greg Curtis.

A celebration of life gathering for Erik will be held Saturday, December 28, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A celebration of life service will occur Saturday, December 28, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A burial will occur at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Blountsville, AL.
