Killed by the Cars

The Darien correspondent of the Advocate gives the following particulars of an accident which occurred near that station last Saturday.
On Saturday the 3d , John M. Folts, who has been employed to pack apples during the last packing season, started to go to Mr. Choats, to pack some for him. He was boarding with Alexander Petrie (first house south of the station.) As he came to the railroad track he saw train five approaching; the train was five minutes late, and running at a high rate of speed. He thought he could cross the track before the train approached, and had got one foot over the rail, when he changed his mind, and as he was in the act of getting off, the engine struck him on the back and right side, and threw him up six or eight feet, and over on the other track, and killed him instantly. His remains will, I understand, be taken to Illion, Herkimer Co., where his first wife was buried. He leaves a wife and three children, one by his first wife and two by his now disconsolate widow, who lives one and a half miles west of here, and owns the farm on which the Victor Mineral Spring is located.
