Robert F. Bowers, DDS, 87, of Powell passed away on September 4, 2012 in Asheville, NC while returning from a family reunion.
Born and raised in Windber, PA, by his parents, Floyd and Bess London Bowers, who preceded him in death along with two brothers, James of Windber, PA and Jerry of Shaker Heights, Ohio. He was a WWII Veteran having served at the Battle of the Bulge. Dr. Bowers graduated from Fenn College in Cleveland and the Ohio State University School of Dentistry. He had a dental practice and raised his family in Germantown, Ohio . In retirement, he was a greens keeper for 21 years at York Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Bowers, and his children Rick (Kathy) Bowers of Germantown, OH, Holly (Gregg) Clendenin of Nicholasville, KY, Vickie (Lincoln) Reeves of Moorsville, NC, Jackie Bowers of Willoughby, OH. Stepchildren are Greg (Carolina) Herron of Virginia Beach, VA, Steven Herron of Chesapeake, VA, Allyn (Deborah) Talbert of Kenton, OH, Kim Mincer of Enon, OH, Tanya Gibson of Warren, OH, and Kara (Bob) Hall of Dublin, OH. 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Worthington Presbyterian Church and Chancel Choir where the Memorial service will be held at 4pm on Friday, November 23, 2012. Dr. Mack Sigmon will officiate.
