Joseph Bryan Ferebee, 86, of Stanley, NC, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving wife, Tiffany and family on December 15th, 2019. Joe was born on August 16th, 1933, to William Flavius and Zella Ward Ferebee on a farm in Mocksville, NC. He was the tenth of eleven children. After graduating from Oak Ridge Military Academy as the outstanding Cadet of the Year he went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Option from North Carolina State University in 1955. Upon graduation, he worked for Nello Teer on the Massachusetts Turnpike and later was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, he became a quadruple rated pilot, earning the privilege of flying the B-47 multi-engine aircraft in the Strategic Air Command. In 1958, having been honorably discharged from the Air Force, he went to work for Crowder Construction where he remained for 28 years in Charlotte, NC. In 1985, he started his own company, Ferebee Corporation, specializing in heavy highway construction, asphalt manufacturing, stone base and asphalt paving, recycling, underground utilities, concrete and grading operations. In recent years and a return to his roots, Joe and Tiffany have been enjoying their farm together. Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Tiffany; sons, David and wife, Karen, and Chris and wife, Charlotte; five grandchildren, Collins Ferebee, Martha and husband, Luke Habegger, Walker and wife, Tattie Grace, Mary Kathryn and husband, Blake Lozzi, Christopher and wife, Jacque; five great grandchildren, Luke Grayson, Holden David, Emery Ella, James Ephraim, and Eleanor Joy. He is also survived by his siblings, Maxine Pruett and Katherine Loudermilk, and a host of nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 22, 2019, at 2:00 pm. The church is located at 270 Pino Road, Mocksville, NC 27006. Following the service there will be a reception in the church fellowship hall.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church; Davie Community Foundation, PO Box 546, Mocksville, NC 27028; and/or Hospice and Palliative Care Lincoln County, 900 Donita Dr., Lincolnton, NC 28092.
