Richard is survived by his wife Glenda DeWeese, his brother Dennis DeWeese, sister-in-law Jeanie, his sisters Joan Matthews and Janet Hampton, brother-in-law Paul, his son Aaron DeWeese, daughter-in-law Julia, son Rick DeWeese, daughter-in-law Cindy, daughter Amy Barton, five grandchildren, and a great grandchild; also, his bees from his bee-keeping hobby.
Richard was a skilled artisan, producing jewelry, wind-chimes, hiking staves, as well as many other beautiful things from his hands. Mr. DeWeese loved the Appalachian Mountains, enjoying hiking and hunting and riding his Harley. He too loved music, playing the trumpet and the shophar for the Lord. His love for his Lord and his family was great indeed.
Richard grew up in the Beaverdam Baptist Church, was privileged to attend Elim Bible Institute of Lima, New York, and later became an active laborer at Harvest Time Assembly, with a heart for the homeless of Asheville. Richard was a thirty-nine year veteran employee of Haynes Wire Company located in Mountain Home, North Carolina, where he made diamond dies.
The memorial service will be held at the Blue Ridge Funeral Service, Tuesday, September 04, 2012 at 2PM. Interment will be at Ashlawn Cemetery following the service.
