Clayton J Cannis, born Sept 23, 1941 in Capac Michigan. He was the son of Gordon Cannis and Frances Kashinsky. He passed away in Scottsdale, Arizona, Dec 17, 2019.
Clayton moved to Cheboygan in his early teens. He worked many jobs until opening and owning Cannis Insurance Agency. Clayton lived one heck of a life. Serving in the National Guard. Fire Chief for Alverno Fire Dept. County Commissioner. Served on the Cheboygan Fair Board for many years. He was a golden gloves boxer as a young boy, winning several trophies. He loved Snowmobile racing, served as race director for MIRA. Fishing and hunting were priorities. He was active in collecting and showing Corvettes. He was on the Pro Bowlers Tour. He loved shooting pool. Clayton may have also invented Karaoke (family joke). He was always on the go and loved to share a good joke and a smile with everyone.
If you met Clayton you did not forget him! He was known for is wicked sense of humor and his competitive spirit.
Clayton was pre- deceased by his parents and wife Alice Cannis. He is survived by Daughter Christy Beauchamp and her children Jeresy and Gracie Beauchamp. Daughter Gretchen Furlong, husband Dan, children Graylin and Treagen Furlong. Daughter Tanya Monville, huband Jason and daughter Makenna Monville.
Also survived by many cousins and other family members. There will be a Celebration of life held in the Summer 2020.
