Phillip Franklin Abbott, 71, of White Stone, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 19, 2019.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Hazel Abbott; brother, Jackson Abbott; sister, Mary Hayden and grandson, Bert Harich. He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Lee Kellum-Abbott; daughter, Linda K. Reeves (Randy); grandsons, Randy S. Reeves, Jr. and Tyler A. Reeves; son, John Lee Kellum (Nancy); daughter, Loretta Harich and her two daughters, Crystal and Shelia; brother, Harry Vermilyea (Shirley); sister, Ina Jane Edwards (William); sister, Doris Bury and several nieces and nephews.

Phillip was a lifelong member of Claybrook Baptist Church where he serves as a Trustee, Deacon, Choir Member, Sunday School Teacher, dedicated worker in Vacation Bible School and served on numerous committees.

He was a professional truck driver for over 45 years. His first trucking career began with W. E. Kellum, Inc. and from there he began a 24 year career with The DuPont Corporation (Conoco). While working for DuPont, he won numerous awards for safe driving and mileage. After retiring from DuPont, Phillip went to work for Ransone's Nursery and Maintenance, Inc. and worked there for 14 years. He retired in 2016 due to health issues.

Phillip and Mary Lee enjoyed traveling and took numerous trips. In 2010 they traveled to the Holy Land where they were baptized in the Jordan River and visited the birth and burial sites of Jesus. They enjoyed their trips to Disney World and Sandbridge with Ran and Tyler. Phillip loved to talk and always made new friends wherever he went. He loved John Wayne movies and eating hard crabs.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m. Monday, December 23, 2019 at Claybrook Baptist Church, Weems, Va. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends 2-4 p. m. Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Va.

Phillip married Florence Mae Wilmer on April 21, 1968 in Lancaster County, Va. They divorced in March 1971. He married Mary Lee Dunaway (nee) Kellum on December 22, 1978 in Lancaster County, Va.
