Funeral rites were on Thursday of last week in San Jose for Miss Helen Hughes, 48, teacher in Peter H. Burnett Junior High School in San Jose, and well known in Geyserville, where she was a frequent visitor at the W. R. Ferguson home.
Miss Hughes collapsed on January 9 in her schoolroom before 34 shocked and frightened pupils. She died en route by amblance to a hospital.
Only recently Miss Hughes received an award in recognition of 25 years of work with Camp Fire Girls. She lived with Miss Ruby Ferguson, and the latter came to Geyserville Monday to spend this week at her home there. She accompanined home Mrs. W. R. Ferguson, who went to San Jose when word of the passign of Miss Huges was received.
Miss Hughes was the daughter of the late Col. John L. Hughes of San Jose. She leaves three sisters.
