BETTY CHAPMAN, age 71 of Sidney, IA died Monday, December 9, 2019 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE unexpectedly. Betty was born October 13, 1948 in Nebraska City, NE to Charles Blevins and Ruth (Beers) Blevins. She worked many places over her years including Beverly Healthcare, Fremont County Sheriff’s Department and Nishna Productions.

Betty enjoyed reading and tending to her ever expanding flower garden. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and talking to anyone who would listen about her grandchildren. She was known by her family for her many meals which weren’t complete without including either Velveeta or corn and always having a fully stocked kitchen to feed someone a meal or for random visits by family needing last minute baking supplies. Betty was fiercely loyal to her children and spent her life caring for others. There is comfort to be found in knowing that she has been reunited with her beloved daughter where they are now together again probably back to their norm of bickering and poking fun at those of us left behind.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Meri Wolfe; granddaughter, Elizabeth Chapman; sister, Virginia Blevins; and 3 brothers, Gerald, Robert and Floyd Blevins. She is survived by 2 sons, Timm Chapman of Thurman, IA and Todd Chapman of Sidney, IA; 8 grandchildren, Andrew Wolfe, Norah Wolfe, Eriq Wolfe, Jon Griffin, Kiley Chapman, Emma Chapman, Elise Chapman and Ethan Chapman; 1 great granddaughter, Alaina Griffin; 2 sisters, Rosemary Ringer and Barbara Helms; 5 brothers, Jack Blevins, Bruce Blevins, Jim Blevins, Raymond Blevins and Ted Murphy; numerous nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
