Funeral services for Lois W. “Coach Hoss” Bowlin, 78, of Livingston will be Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. at Livingston First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack White officiating. The eulogy will be rendered by Dee Outlwaw. Burial will follow in the Cokes Chapel Cemetery in Ward, Alabama. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Coach Hoss passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation in York. He was born December 10, 1940, in Stanford, Arkansas. He was a retired baseball coach for the University of West Alabama.

Survivors include his wife, Evie Bowlin of Livingston; sons, Parrish Bowlin (Darlene) of Tuscaloosa; Lance Bowlin (Lanie) of Atlanta, GA; and step-son, Mark Moody of Livingston; brothers, Jim Bowlin (Norma) of Paragould, AR; Chalk Bowlin (Carolyn) of Memphis, TN; and sister, Daphne Adams of Paragould, AR; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Drucilla Bowlin; brother, Snow Bowlin; and granddaughter, Summer Moody.

Pallbearers: Gary Rundles, Don Nixon, Keith Bullock, Gary Busby, Dee Outlaw, Chase Bowlin, Lance Bowlin, and Parrish Bowlin.

The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to the University of West Alabama Baseball Program, C/O Coach Rundles at U.W.A.

Arrangements by Bumpers Funeral Home of York.Professional Baseball Player. Nicknamed "Hoss", he was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as an amateur free agent in 1959, and acquired by the Kansas City Athletics in August 1961. He started two games for the A's in 1967. Both games Bowlin appeared in were on the road against the California Angels at Anaheim Stadium (September 16 and 17). He had five at bats, (with one hit), because Sal Bando pinch-hit for him and replaced him at third in both games. Bowlin's one hit, a single to right, came against pitcher Jack Hamilton, who earlier in the season had hit Red Sox All-Star Tony Conigliaro in the face with a fastball. In his thirteen innings on the field, Bowlin recorded four assists and made no errors.
