The family of Billy Norman Haynes announces his passing, on Wednesday, December 3, 2019 at 5:38 p.m., at the age of 72 years. Billy passed away surrounded by his family at SIH Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois.
He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, Tuesday, December 31, 1946 to Robert Haynes and Maxine (Hooker) Haynes.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn (Jennings) Haynes of 51 years, four sisters, Patty and husband Larry, Peggy and Richie, Sandy and husband Billy, Robin and husband Steve and J Haynes.
His children, K. J. Haynes, B. N. and A. Haynes Jr., Tena S. and Robbie, and Theresa J. and Alan. Bill will also be fondly remembered by his fifteen grandchildren. Nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Garfield High School in 1965 of Terra Haute, Indiana.
Billy was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska
as a MP training K9's. He retired from Peabody Eagle #2 Mine in Ridgeway, Illinois where he worked UMWA Local 1602 for 32 years. Billy enjoyed spending time with family
and loved animals. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Saturday at the Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin. Visitation will be Friday at 6:00 to 8:00pm also at Van Natta Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Herrin City Cemetery with military rites preformed by the Herrin funeral Detail.
