Floyd Eugene "Ticky" Best was born, the youngest of eleven children, August 18, 1920 in Cordell, Washita Co., Oklahoma to George Burton "Bert" & Florence Rena Merts Best.

After graduating from Gotebo High School he enter the U.S. Army during World War II serving until the end of the war. During the war he and his brother Dick were both at the battle of Okinawa.

After the war ended he returned to Mountain View, Oklahoma and married DeLois Hopkins February 26, 1947. In 1952 they moved to Oklahoma City where he worked as an aircraft mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base.

The name Ticky was give to him by his twin sister Floy, which was told by his sister Thelma at his funeral.

Uncle Ticky had a very dry since of humor, loved to tease the people that he cared & loved the most. He was a very quiet man that said very little, but when he did speak you better listen, he was going to say or do something to get your goat.

I remember one time making a double batch of fudge for a family dinner and left it sitting on a table when I went to get it and put it with the other diserts, it was almost all gone. I imediately thought the kids had been into the candy and had ruined their dinner. He couldn't let the kids get into trouble so had to admit he had been the guilty party and had eaten almost all the candy and he said "THAT WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE TASTING STUFF I EVER PUT INTO MY MOUTH"

He loved his wife and son as well as all of his family, but children were very special to him. He was so thrilled when his first grandson Brandon was born, he called me and told me we had a spare to carry on the family name. My son Sean was the first great grandson for Ticky's parents. When Justin was born he was just as thrilled that Sean & Brandon had a backup.

He was proceeded in death by both parents, his twin sister, Floy Best Ward, brothers: Archie Leo Best, J.B. Best, Charley Edward, & Richard Clifton "Dick" Best, sisters: Cleo Best, Alburta Best VanKirk, Reba Best Johnson, Lucille Best Slaten.

He is survived by his wife DeLois, son Michael and wife Mary Lynne, grandsons Brandon and wife Stacie, and Justin Best, one sister: Thelma Ellis.

Uncle Ticky will be mised by all that knew and loved him
