Marie (sister of Fannie V. Clews, Mollie J. Luckett Combs, Emma J. Lashorn Kelly and Mosby Williams, Jr) married and divorced Claude R Clerk. She was a secretary and stenographer for a congressmen before marrying one, Representative B. Frank Murphy of Ohio, in 1930. After 8 years of marriage, Marie became a widow. She married the esteemed Dr. John M. Orem, President of Sibley Hospital, in 1948. Marie was widowed for the second time in 1968 but lived the remainder of her life in the Maryland / DC area. She died at her home on Bryan's Rd in Fenwick, Maryland.

Apparently, Marie had no children though she did adopt a son, William Clerk, who later went by William/Billy Murphy and was either formally or informally adopted by B. Frank Murphy (her 2nd husband), who left him the remainder of his estate once he reached 30. There is the possibility of a daughter but sources supporting that idea seem ephemeral at the moment.
