Marion McCook "Mack" Murray and Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Murray were children of John K Murray and Lucinda Isbell Murray. They were both born in Jackson County, Alabama. Mack's father died of dysentery during the War Betwen the States. He was an officer in the 1st Alabama Tennessee Independent Vidette Cavalry as were his brothers William Deaton Jackson "John" Murray and Elijah A "Lige" Murray.

Mack married Sarah A E "Sallie" Tharp, 1859 – 1939. Sallie Tharp was a daughter of Hezekiah Tharp and Nancy Colbert.Nancy Colbert,a daughter of Chief George Colbert,traces the family lineage back to Chief DoubleHead.
Mack and Sallie Murray had the following children:
