Ernest T. Frakes, 89, Springfield, Mo., passed to a new life on Sunday evening at 9:24 p.m., July 15, 2007, at St. John's Mercy Villa following a long illness. He was born February 8, 1918, in Davenport, Iowa, to Lincoln and Rosa Frakes. He retired from Mid-Am where he was an Industrial Mechanic. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Delia Irene; his sister, Beulah McCleary; his parents; and his second wife, Dolly Frances. He is survived by two sons and three daughters: Denver Ray Frakes, St. Louis, Mo., and Roy L. Frakes and his wife, Deanna, of Battlefield, Mo.; June E. Frakes and Rita I. Frakes Garrison of Springfield, Mo.; and Rose E. Frakes Carter and her husband, Larry, of Ozark, Mo.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by a large extended family and step-family. Mr. Frakes was an avid outdoorsman with a deep love of and respect for nature and wildlife. By example, he instilled in his children an appreciation of God's handiwork in all of life, and a strong work ethic. The family wants to acknowledge the devoted care given by ALL the personnel at Mercy Villa during his four-month residency. We also wish to thank the St. John's Home Care personnel who assisted with Ernest's care for the past five years at home; especially Ruby and John. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to a local Humane Society. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Greenlawn North. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007, at Greenlawn North with Reverend Gregory Esselman officiating.
