Mrs. Ethel Davis Huffaker, 48, wife of R. V. Huffaker, science instructor at Lincoln high school, died Monday at 3:45 a.m. in her residence, 2310 Seventh East street, following a prolonged illness.
She was born on June 5, 1888, in Salt Lake City, to Albert Wesley and Melissa Jane Lambson Davis.
On September 7, 1916, she was married to Mr. Huffaker, and the couple had lived first in Hinckley, then in Midway, and finally in Salt Lake City. She was a member of the Salt Lake L. D. S. stake primary board and had long been active as a teacher in Primary and Sunday school organizations of the L. D. S. church.
She was also active in the L. D. S. Relief society and was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Educated in Salt Lake City schools, she attended the University of Utah, where she was instructor in the home economics department from 1914 until 1916.
Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Jane, Retta, and Ruth Huffaker; a son, Vernon Huffaker; her mother, who is one of the few remaining 1847 pioneer women; two brothers, Albert J. and George A. Davis; four sisters, Mrs. D. P. Callister, Mrs. Nettie D. Bradford, Mrs. Sarah D. Whittaker and Helen Davis, all of Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in the Forest Dale L. D. S. ward chapel by Bishop Eugene M. Cannon. Burial will follow in City cemetery.
