She was a long-time resident of Halifax and parishioner of Canadian Martyrs Parish. Daughter of Caleb and Vera Hewey (Lantz). She met Frank at the N.S. Hospital where she was a nurse-in-training. They were married in Aug 1944. She was an accomplished piano player, sang in several choral groups, and was also a supporter of Symphony N.S. She was especially proud of her role as the “sick old woman” in "Ambulance Girl" alongside Kathy Bates. She was predeceased by husband Frank; daughter Elizabeth; son Philip; grandson Luke; brothers, Raymond, John and Stanley; sisters, Lillian, Madeline, Mary, and Lena. She is survived by her twin sister and only surviving sibling, Florence Salway, Saskatoon; children, John Francis (Elizabeth), Joanne (John), Jeffrey (Laura), Jackie (Kelly), Robert (Ingrid) and William, all of Southwest Cove; Edward (Barbara), Nicaragua; and Janet (Peter), Halifax; grandchildren, Norman (Shannon), Kitchener; Matthew (Heather), Dartmouth; Sarah, Leen (Stacy), Erin and Lillian, Southwest Cove; Kate (Darren), Geoffrey (Robyn), and Zoe, Halifax; Molly and Emily (Jeffrey), Hubbards; Jill (Rick), Elmsdale;; Nick (Jessica), Mid.
