Florence Simons Black passed away February 13, 1997.

She was born February 15, 1910 in Denver, CO., to Alice M. Harris and Orie J. Simons. She married Archie Raymond Black on August 25, 1928 in Ranchos De Taos, NM., later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1975. She was an executive secretary for the State Board for Vocational Education for many years. She was a church organist and played piano for Relief Society and Sunday School in the Burton Ward, Douglas Ward and Highland Park Ward. She also taught piano for many years.She is survived by her six children: Dora Bailey, Joan Clark (Allan), Alexandria, VA, Janet Holford, Florence Romney (Joe), Rexburg, ID, James A. Black (Carma) and Leonard R. Black (Susan), Mexico City, MX; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Ruth Conner, Bronson, FL. Preceded in death by two brothers and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 17, 1997 at 12 Noon at the Highland Park Ward, 2535 Douglas Street (1250 E.). Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and at the Ward one hour prior to services. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
