A proud Army veteran of the Vietnam era, he was very patriotic and loved to talk about his service to his country. He was an avid sports fan who loved to cheer on the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. Robert just loved people. He was incredibly friendly and would do anything for anyone.
Robert was born September 26, 1952 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the late Huley R. and Frances A. Acord Collins and he was also preceded in death by a brother Gary Paul Collins.
He married the former Kay F. Perry on April 15, 1988 in Marysville. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Kay; his daughters Melissa (Rick) Bond of Georgia, Michelle Collins of Chicago; step-son Anthony (Julie) Perry of Marysville; grandchildren Michael Gonzales and Matthew Perry; siblings Linda Ladwig of Marysville, Joyce (Bob) Clark of Chicago and Danny Collins of Florida; and nephew Eric Davis of Chicago.
Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday at the Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. James Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Union County Honor Guard. Friends may call one hour prior to service time beginning at 10 am.
In Robert’s memory, contributions may be made to the Union County Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
