Francis James Reynolds was born on May 5, 1894, in Cleveland, Ohio. His parents were Timothy and Mary Traynor Reynolds.

His family, according to the 1900 Federal census, were living in Cleveland. Father Timothy’s (aged 46) occupation was a laborer-day. His mother, Mary, was 36 and occupation listed as wife. Both of their parents were from Ireland. They were listed with children: Mary aged 11; Miney aged 9; Francis aged 6; Gertrude aged 3; and William aged 7 (however he was born in January 1898 and the census was taken on June 16, 1900, which would make William about 2 years five or six months old).

The family was still living in Cleveland in the 1910 Federal census and listed: father Timothy aged 55; mother Mary aged 46; children: May aged 21; Mine aged 19; Frank aged 15; Gertrude aged 13; and William aged 11.

On November 28, 1918, Franciscus Reynolds and Helen Cecile Duffy were married at St Mary’s, in East Chicago, Indiana. The records appear to have been recorded in Latin hence the Franciscus.

Frank J Reynolds, aged 25, and wife Helen Reynolds, aged 22, were living in East Chicago, Indiana with their daughter Nadyne, aged 4 months, according to the 1920 Federal census. Frank Reynolds was an assistant superintendent at a nut and bolt company.

In the 1940 census, Frank Reynolds, aged 44, was a foreman having something to do with military service, and living in East Chicago with wife Helen aged 42; Nadyne aged 20; Frank aged 16; and Terese aged 13. Mary was not listed.
