Obituary from the Coolidge newspaper read as follows:
Perry Bunch Dies On Visit To Houston
"One of Coolidge's most beloved citizens, Perry Bunch, 96, died in Houston, at the home of his daughter some time in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 6th, while on a visit in that city, having gone to Houston last Sunday afternoon. On retiring Tuesday night, Mrs. Patterson reported that her father seemed to be enjoying his usual good health for a man of his age, but upon arising Wednesday morning they found he had died.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Coolidge this afternoon (Thursday, August 7th) at 3 p.m., with the Reverend Ted O. Badger, of Burleson, officiating, and was assisted by the Reverend J.W. Gill, pastor of the local Methodist Church. Interment was in the Dawson Cemetery with the McElroy Funeral Home in charge.
Perry Bunch was born in Arkansas on August 9, 1856, and while a small boy came to Texas with his parents, the family first living at Lampasas; later Mr. Bunch came to Dawson where he engaged in farming, working the land where the town of Dawson now stands, and where on January 5, 1876, he was united in marriage to Miss Delia Robertson, who preceded her husband in death in 1929 while they were living in Marshall.
In about 1930 Mr. Bunch returned in Limestone County and had lived in and around Coolidge about 22 years where he was known and loved by practically everyone he came in contact with.
While Mr. Bunch had a number of children, and any one of them would have been happy to give him a home, he preferred to maintain his own living quarters and was able to take care of himself most of the time.
Survivors inlcude four sons, R.L. and Mack Bunch, Coolidge; John Bunch, Mexia; Albert Bunch, Marshall; and four daughters, Mrs. Laura Dark, Tyler; Mrs. Florence Munden, Waco; Mrs. A.A. Patterson, Houston and Mrs. Nora Munden, Marshall.
Other immediate survivors include 48 grandchildren; 108 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren.
Mr. Bunch was a member of the Baptist Church and took an active part in church affairs for many years."
