Lorene worked for Florsheim Shoe Company for many years. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann, and the Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Eagles Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Lorene loved to read, listen to music and was proud of her African violets! She enjoyed fabric painting and crocheting. She also enjoyed traveling to see her friends in California, as well as sightseeing trips to other parts of the country.
