“Rusty” Russell Doyle Johnson, 63 year old Jay resident, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019. Russell was born in Miami, OK on April 19, 1956 to Doyle and Charlene (Abercrombie) Johnson. He was employed by Delaware County District #2 as a laborer for 28 years. His life passion was music. He loved jam sessions at Granny Pearls. He could sing and play the banjo, guitar, fiddle, and drums. He also enjoyed fishing, his animals, watching old western movies, and spending time with family. He was a no-nonsense country boy with a big heart.

Survivors include his brothers: Mark “Bub” Johnson and wife Brenda of Jay and Grant Johnson and wife Dora of Jay, nieces and nephews: Mark Johnson and wife Lindsey and Staci Branson and husband Keith, great nieces and nephews: Addy and Bennett Johnson and Tucker Branson, great-great nephew Parker Jones, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephews Johnathan Branson and Kenny Joe Jones, Jr.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Mount Hermon Cemetery.
