Shirley was born March 1, 1922, in Plainview to Curtis and Lou Ella Thomas. The family moved to Hereford, where she graduated from high school.
She married and moved to Stratford in 1942, where she was a homemaker and mother of two daughters. Later, she worked for SPS, Pioneer Gas Co. and Texaco Bulk Plant.
As a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, Shirley served in a number of ministries. Upon her move to Amarillo, she became a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church and attended the Lamplighters Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by a sister; a brother; and four grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Jan Thompson and husband David of Amarillo and Dallas Boggs and husband Gerald of Granbury; a grandson, Cody Quillin of Weatherford; and a stepgrandson, David Thompson Jr.
The family suggests memorials be to St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 4600 S. Western St., Amarillo, TX 79109; or BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.
The family would also like to thank the staff of Potter House and BSA Hospice for their loving care.
